About this blog

I started this blog knowing only that I wanted to keep it as a log of my word count, especially since my writing practice doesn’t include daily writing. The unexpected result is that it’s helped me write more often.

In time, it evolved into a fairly regular journal of my writing process which gives me the opportunity to share writing topics, links, articles, and books that interest and/or help me and that I think might interest and/or help other writers and creative types.

I should also mention that when I do have a focus, it will usually be on children’s and YA (Young Adult) writing because that’s where I’m at: I’m currently working on a YA dystopian novel and am blogging regularly on my progress – or lack thereof. I also have a couple of picture books I need to finish and polish before submitting so you’ll be hearing about those too.

Hope this blog helps or just plain entertains!

The way is was explained to me is that what an writer writes and then having their manuscript possibly given a publishers attention and possibly picked up is in accordance what is being marketed at the time.
And until that marketable change up may or may not occur via what the public reading interests are at any given time. So its possible that a manuscript may reside on a publishers shelving for a period of time.
(Hopefully this section makes sense..) I write because its like going through a hike through ones imagination. And you’re listening to the sounds outside of your imagination at the same time. And that practice of listening can provide writing ideas.
Sometimes it can turn into a poem or the makings of a short story, or just becomes more notes to be added to the shoe box that might be in someones closet to maybe be used at another time.
