Links to check out

Revised 8/31/2015

There are so many amazing web pages out there. There’s writers’ resources, author info, book info… So I thought I’d create a page here to share what I come across or is shared with me. The links are in no particular order. If you find one that doesn’t work or if you’d like to suggest one to add, please let me know. In the meantime, enjoy!

Writing Challenges:

  • NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month (in November)
  • PiBoIdMo – Picture Book Idea Month (in November)
  • 12 x 12 – Twelve pictures in twelve months

Links for Children’s Writers:

  • SCBWI – Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators – don’t forget to check out their local chapters too
  • Verla Kay’s Website (also known as the “Blue Boards”) – “A place for children’s writers and illustrators to gather and share information, help each other and have fun while learning the business of writing and illustrating for children.”

Book blogs:

Author blogs and websites:

  • Kristin Cashore (Graceling, Fire, Bitterblue)
  • Ursula K. Le Guin (Left Hand of Darkness, Earthsea)—this will bring you to her thoughts on writing, but make sure you check out the rest of her site as well
  • Ray Bradbury (Dandelion Wine, Fahrenheit 451, The Illustrated Man)
  • Catherine Knutsson (Shadows Cast by Stars)
  • R.L. LaFevers (Nathanial Fludd Beatologist Series and Theodosia Series)—this link is for her blog posts for writers
